Paris Fashion Week Men's is Coming
The prestigious Paris Fashion Week Men’s runs from 15th-20th January. To mark this event, EnglishWaves celebrates France’s top five contributions to the fashion world. Do let us know if we've made a glaring omission.
Louboutin Shoes
We all know the name and the signature red sole. These timeless chaussures help elevate any outfit, regardless of what you throw on. You just might need to take out a small loan to buy a pair.
Chanel No. 5
A staple of many a discerning woman’s dressing table, this beautiful fragrance was created in 1922 by the brand's founder Coco Chanel and the ingredients have been enhanced over the years to modernise the scent. When a reporter asked Marilyn Monroe what she wore to bed, she quipped: ‘Why, Chanel No. 5 of course.'
Chanel’s "little black dress"
It’s that woman Chanel again and this time it’s a dress. Not just any dress. Historically, black clothing was synonymous with mourning, mystery and piety. Madame Chanel changed all that when she introduced the colour to her designs. Now, close to a century later, this garment still sets the benchmark.
Louis Vuitton luggage
Before Louis Vuitton introduced Vuitton trunks to the world, rounded-top trunks were used - mainly to stop water settling on top - and so could not be stacked. It was Vuitton's gray Trianon canvas flat trunk that facilitated stacking for voyages and then rest all copied him. The modern Vuitton luggage ranges aren’t bad, either.
Hermès scarf
We French are fond of the scarf and Hermès produces timeless ones. Adopted by the Hollywood jet set in the last century, it is popular with men and women, young and old.
